Healthcare with Heart
Founded in 2008, Brooklyn Acupuncture Project (BAP) began with the imperative of making reliable medicine accessible to all. With a variety of services and dedication to the community, BAP brings affordable care to the city and inspires similar clinics worldwide. Healthy individuals make healthy communities and a healthy planet. Providing and choosing treatment at BAP is a direct action towards a more people-centered healthcare paradigm and sustainable planet.
We started off with acupuncture, but have grown into a well rounded and rooted community of health professionals equipped to treat the entire family through all phases of life. Acupuncture will always be at the heart of our services, but in the true spirit of holistic medicine, we aim to support health and healing in all aspects of your day to day life.
Mission & Pricing
Mission & Pricing
The low-cost sliding scale has been at the core of BAP’s mission since opening our doors in 2008. We aim to separate the issue of money and treatment and stand for a deep change in the healthcare system.
The way community acupuncture has always worked is that people pay what they can afford and receive the same great care. We are a project rooted in community and honesty. Those who can pay more allow people who need to pay less to receive treatment.
In the present political climate, we want to make it clear that, as always, BAP stands with all immigrants and LGBTQ+ people. BAP is a community space for all people with a mission to equitably provide access to healthcare for everyone. We will always strive to make our space safe for anyone who seeks treatment with us.
Simultaneously, we also want to provide a sustainable future for our clinic, practitioners and front desk reception. Due to increases in rent, utilities, and other overhead costs, we must raise our prices in 2025. In doing so though, we have also decided to expand our sliding scale back to something more similar to what was used pre-COVID. This means more options and a hope that through engaging with our sliding scale tiers, everyone will be able to find a place that is suitable for their income level.
Please note: All payments must be completed before you come in for your appointment. All patients must have a credit card on file in order to book an appointment, but we will accept payments by cash or check once the card is placed on file. Please be advised that if you do not show up, are more than 10 minutes late, or do not cancel within 24 hours of your appointment, you will not be refunded for your appointment or receive a credit to your package.
You may opt in at any tier.
We will never ask anyone to disclose finances.
The annual household income reference is not a strict rule but a framework to consider appropriate payment.
All purchases are non-refundable. Packages will expire 1 year from the date of purchase.
Please know that BAP’s ultimate goal is to make it possible for you to get treatment often enough and long enough to get better and stay better. We want our BAP community to be open to all different kinds of people. We want to give you tools so you do not have to rely solely on large insurance and pharmaceutical corporations for costly and high tech interventions. Although we are not a substitute for Western Medicine, we are an effective and accessible complement to it.
Most acupuncturists in the United States, treat patients on tables in private rooms. This is not traditional in Asia where Chinese Medicine originates. In our clinic we have divided spaces, however everyone is treated in the same community setting (i.e. everybody together!). Treating in a community setting has many benefits: it’s easy for friends and family to come for treatment together; many new patients find it comforting to see others who are being treated safely in the same environment; and while respecting how each person derives and makes meaning, a collective space allows for a sense of connection with other community members who are seeking to heal. We here at BAP feel that creating common ground for healing is one of the most powerful things we can do as acupuncturists!
Most acupuncturists in the US see only 1 patient at a time and charge upwards of $120+ per treatment. They spend a long time talking with each individual patient. While we always aim to give thorough attention and care to every person, in contrast, we streamline treatments and see multiple patients in an hour. This way we are able to make acupuncture affordable and still make sure practitioners are paid fairly. This is a more traditional approach to the medicine.
Our commitment to you:
We will always provide you with a safe community healing space with skilled practitioners.
Chinese Medicine is a complete medical system unto itself. Through an evolution of more than two thousand years, there are many lineages and approaches to diagnostics and treatment. While our practitioners offer different styles, they are all well equipped to support you in reaching any of your health goals. We work together as an integrated team, and many patients of BAP will work with multiple practitioners.

Felicia Guglielmi, LAc (she/her) received her Master of Science from Tri-State College of Acupuncture (TSCA) in New York City, where she taught for four years as a teacher’s assistant for Dr. Sharon Zhao, LAc. Felicia chose TSCA for its unique curriculum, studying three styles of acupuncture: Traditional Chinese Medicine, Kiiko Matsumoto (under Master Kiiko Matsumoto) and Acupuncture Physical Medicine (with Trigger Point needling) under Dr. Mark Seem. Felicia integrates all styles in her practice to best treat her patients. Felicia previously worked for fifteen years in the non-profit world until lingering effects of mononucleosis caused her to seek acupuncture treatment as a last resort. After just a few sessions her energy returned, her soreness went away, and she started to feel like herself again. This inspired her to leave the stress of the 9-to-5 world to share the healing effects of acupuncture with others. Felicia holds a keen interest in emotional imbalances, stress, muscle tension, and GI dysfunction and believes the key to health is mind-body balance. Her goal is to help patients return to their daily lives with renewed health and further understanding of their own wellness. Felicia uses cupping and gua sha in her treatments.
Danette Plagge, MEd, LAc (she/her) received her Master of Science from Tri-State College of Acupuncture in New York where she studied Traditional Chinese Medicine, APM or trigger point needling, and Kiiko Matsumoto-style acupuncture. Danette was diagnosed with scoliosis at age 8, which eventually forced her into a back brace for more than five years. As an adult, crippling back pain became a barrier to everyday life. Although needle-phobic, she eventually was convinced to try acupuncture, which began a long, circuitous journey toward becoming an acupuncturist. Danette’s practice has a special focus on injury rehabilitation, pain management, and pediatric care. She uses cupping, moxibustion, gua sha, and e-stim in her treatments. She believes strongly in people’s ability to change their own lives given the right support systems.
